OBJECTIVE: To aid in the medical application of a bolus via an oral administration.

APPLICATION: Restrain the animal’s head. Pull back the plunger by grasping the thumb ring and insert the bolus into the head of the instrument. Place the head of the gun into the side of the animal’s mouth, align with the center of the mouth while placing the head into the throat opening. Do not force the gun head too far down the throat due to possible pharynx damage. To release the bolus; place thumb into thumb ring and fingers into the head cap rings, push the plunger firmly with the thumb and release the bolus. After dispensing bolus, hold for a brief time until the animal swallows to confirm administration, pull straight back on the gun assembly and pull to the side of the mouth after clearing throat entry. Always use extreme caution with instrument procedures.
