#24325 - Equine Balling Gun

SPECIFICATION: Overall
length is 18 ¼". The die cast metal, nickel plated
head is 1 1/8" ID and 3 ¼" long. The plunger
shaft body is 3/8" diameter, 15 ¼" length.
Constructed of brass with nickel plating. The thumb/ finger
rings and head cap are zinc die cast with 1" ID rings.
All parts can be repaired or replaced.
OBJECTIVE: To aid in
the medical application of a bolus via an oral
administration.
APPLICATION: Restrain
the animal’s head. Pull back the plunger by grasping the
thumb ring and insert the bolus into the head of the
instrument. Place the head of the gun into the side of the
animal’s mouth, align with the center of the mouth while
placing the head into the throat opening. Do not force the
gun head too far down the throat due to possible pharynx
damage. To release the bolus; place thumb into thumb ring
and fingers into the head cap rings, push the plunger firmly
with the thumb and release the bolus. After dispensing
bolus, hold for a brief time until the animal swallows to
confirm administration, pull straight back on the gun
assembly and pull to the side of the mouth after clearing
throat entry. Always use extreme caution with instrument
procedures. |
