SPECIFICATION Streamlined design with component parts machined from solid bar stock polycarbonate and acetal. Manufactured and assembled to be impact and moisture resistant, well balanced and user friendly. The innovative internal switch (#21300) is machined from solid brass and activates when pressure is applied to livestock; increasing battery life and reducing hand fatigue. Model #21303 is activated by a push button switch. New power boosting circuitry requires only two 9-Volt batteries. The power unit is 12 ˝ inches in length. The flexible polycarbonate shafts are 12, 24 and 36-inch lengths. The V-tip brass probes are 1 ˝” from center to center. The V-tip design directs the mechanical force to the reinforced tip and reduces the force being applied to the outside, as in a U-shaped probe design, resulting in higher and more reliable long–term performance. The capacitor discharge of the power unit (#21300 & 21303) provides consistent discharge power. Units feature a fast electrical bleed-off of residual shock. A leather band is attached to the end for the convenience of storage. OBJECTIVE The stock prod is a humanely effective procedure to move animals efficiently when they cannot be urged in any other probing maneuver. The shock will stimulate the animal on contact and does not cause any harm if used judiciously. APPLICATION Model #21300 – Place the two brass probe tips against the animal and push the assembly (approximately 1/8” ) to activate the electrical discharge. After use, loosen the lock screw (on 12" shaft only) and slide securely back into place against the power unit handle and tighten - this secures the switch mechanism to the “off” position. Model #21303 – Unit will activate only when button is pressed. Both Models - Once the animal has reacted, pull the prod away to avoid any contact. Both brass prod tips must be on the animal to activate an electrical discharge. Keep the internal brass mechanism area clean with an alcohol wipe to maintain consistent contact. If moisture builds up (i.e. mud, manure) between the prod tips, clean off and continue use. If not kept clean, this could cause a direct short and the electrical charge will not emit from the probe tips for proper operation. Use caution at all times and keep away from children, as this is not a toy and should be used only on livestock. |
